About Me
I grew up in a small town south of the Kansas City area and moved to Omaha with my husband
and firstborn in 1997. Since then, we have called Nebraska home. My husband (Tim), our three
children (Zac, Alyssa, and Katy), and I moved to the area in 2007, choosing to settle in Dalton
because of Leyton Schools. I am proud to call this community my home! While raising my
children as a stay-at-home mom, I enjoyed my time volunteering in their schools. My time spent
as a volunteer made my transition to a Leyton staff member feel completely natural. When I am
not spending time with my family, including my two amazing grandbabies, I enjoy hanging out
with friends, reading, golfing (badly-haha), shopping, and traveling.
Philosophy of Education
I think Rita Pierson said it best: “Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give
up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that
they can possibly be.” I believe my role as the school counselor is to assist students in meeting
the social, emotional, and behavioral goals necessary for achieving success throughout their
educational journey and beyond. Educators, including school counselors, are here to equip
students with the tools they need to adapt and thrive in an ever-changing, diverse world.
