About Me

When I moved to Nebraska from Colorado 30 years ago, I felt like I had moved back home. I grew up in a small rural community in Eastern Colorado much like the communities around here. I love the pride, traditions, and support of the people in the communities I live and work in. My husband, Bill, and I moved to a trout farm south of Broadwater in 1990, which we eventually had the opportunity to buy and start our business, Cedar Springs Trout Farm. We have three children, all of who are Leyton graduates. We enjoy spending time with our kids and their significant others, and supporting them as they take their next steps in life. In my free time, I like to relax in my little slice of heaven here at the farm while working in my flower garden. I also enjoy antiquing and going to markets with my friends. I feel very blessed to be part of the Leyton community.

Philosophy of Education

Relationships, relevance, and rigor are three words that drive my philosophy in education. I strive to build a positive and respectful rapport with my students. Having a strong relationship where my students feel welcomed, comfortable, and safe in the classroom results in students working harder and trying to achieve more. When I plan my lessons, I work to make them relevant and engaging. Making my lessons meaningful help the students answer the question of “Why do I need to know this?” I want to see my students achieve at their highest potential, so it is important to have rigor in my lessons. This helps challenge them to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Lessons that push them to work a little harder to gain the confidence to build their learning skills. Through relationships, relevance, and rigor, I can set high expectations that motivate my students to do their best to meet them.
