About MeI am originally from a small timber town in Northwest Oregon. I grew up playing sports, participating in horse 4-H, and serving as a rodeo queen at the county, state, regional, and national levels. My husband, Jeremy, and I have lived in 4 states and have finally found our home in Nebraska. We have two beautiful daughters and two basset hounds who constantly keep our lives interesting. I have always loved teaching. Whether it be riding lessons or classroom learning, I enjoy helping others improve. My passion for knowledge and extensive background in rhetoric, public speaking, and public relations allows me to relate to students from a variety of backgrounds, communicate effectively and efficiently, and teach students critical analysis skills. I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and doing anything crafty.
Philosophy of EducationEducators are tasked with the job of preparing students for life beyond the classroom. We have the opportunity to help them become successful members of society. As an English Language Arts teacher, it is my personal and professional goal to educate the whole student. I urge students to continually ask “Why?” and search for meaning in what they are reading and writing. Through analysis and reflection, students grow both academically and personally. I strive to make my lessons interesting, meaningful, and beneficial to students’ lives. I want my classroom to be a place of learning, but more importantly, to exude an atmosphere of passion and excitement.
