I am a Nebraska small town, animal lovin’, family centered farm girl. I grew up in the Leyton community and I am proud to say I am a Leyton alumni. I have been married to my husband, Kevin, for 21 years. Kevin and I are parents to two incredible children. I enjoy spending time outdoors while glamping, gardening, or helping my husband farm. I also cherish moments with my family and friends and the love from our animals.
I have worked in the healthcare field for 25 years. Not only have I performed basic nursing care, but I have performed advanced nursing care to the general patient, children, elderly, intensive care patients, obstetrics and emergency room patients. The majority of my experience has been in the operating room.
Philosophy of Education
I have been a Registered Nurse my entire adult life. While this profession is not technically considered a “teacher”, my profession “teaches” people how to care for themselves every day! I believe that life experiences greatly affect my students ability to learn and that any person has the ability to learn and grow given the tools they need to succeed! Abraham Maslow described it best “all people have an inborn desire to be all they can be. In order to achieve these ultimate goals, however, a number of more basic needs must be met...the need for food, safety, love and self-esteem”. As the district school nurse and the Health Sciences instructor, it is my passion to assure our students have the tools they need to be successful in the classroom and ultimately, life beyond the classroom.
