About MeIt is an honor to serve as the Superintendent of Leyton Schools. Leading this district is fulfilling because, together with the Board, staff, and community, we have been able to accomplish a variety of improvements for the school district. Student achievement
is a high priority at Leyton. Our curriculum improvements – especially in science – coupled with our strong focus on the school improvement process have proven their merit and demonstrated positive results. I have lived in the Panhandle since 1987, and in
Dalton since 2018. I love this part of Nebraska. My wife, Lori, and I have eight children. I enjoy spending time outdoors with those I love. My photo albums are filled with memories of my kids on their successful hunting and fishing adventures. I am also energized
by the accomplishments of our students. Successful thespians, accomplished musicians, all-around athletes, and dedicated students provide ample opportunities to demonstrate school pride and cheer loudly. It is a great day to #BeAWarrior!
Philosophy of EducationMy Philosophy of Education is rooted and grounded in a quote largely attributed to George Washington Carver – the famous African-American agricultural scientist: “99% of failure comes from people who are in the habit of making excuses.” Faced with what many would consider overwhelming obstacles to success over the course of his lifetime, Carver dedicated his life to helping others – especially farmers. And he stubbornly worked to improve their quality of life with his research and inventions. Likewise, I believe that every endeavor should be driven by a desire to improve. To me, that’s what learning is about! With every decision I consider, I apply the “excuses” filter and I am driven to see improvement; in my professional and personal goals, in student achievement, and in school district operations. My goal is that each day we are better – because we can! The vivid imagery of our school mission, “Cultivate lifelong learners as they successfully transition into our diverse world,” inspires me. Our focus as a school and its teachers and leaders is to grow our students so they can be successful – NO EXCUSES.
